Training in Traceability for Quality is an international Leonardo da Vinci project that developed practical and effective in situ training (and guidance) on the use of traceability concepts to differentiate quality fish and thus maximise marketability.

Particularly directed at SME's it adopts a modular approach with case studies and vocational training packs that are 'mixed and matched' to suit to different groups.  The project was conducted under the Leonardo da Vinci programme over 2 years ending December 2007 with data modules available for delivery thereafter.

Training shall be provided by one or more of the partners, perhaps within a workshop environment, depending on client objectives and requirements. There shall also be training packs available and trainers (regional or sectoral) may be licensed to deliver these.

Testing and evaluation was succesfully undertaken both within an academic and business environment including workshop extension looking at business development around the concepts and issues covered in the course.

The development (and delivery) team included different disciplines (economics, veterinarian, marketing, accounting and business as well as consultancy) drawn from institutions and companies active in the fish sector.  Not surprisingly the project threw up a number of issues which could not be addressed within its confines or resources. Thus e-learning and 'self' teaching were identified as extensions (TTQ+) to strengthen the process of integrating it into a generic marketing guide - another rich seam (TTQM).
